Extend your machine life and ensure performance with regular certification

To ensure continued return on investment for your metrology device, we recommend that every measuring machine is inspected, certified and, if necessary, recalibrated on a yearly basis.

Certification

Understand your performance based on as-found conditions. Some minor adjustments (product family dependent) can be applied to your device bringing it to acceptable specifications. Certification is based on B89 or ISO 10360 process.

Calibration

Calibration is a process of restoring a machine’s performance back to factory standards. It includes major adjustments in all machine axis and utilizing advanced OEM tools in the process.

More about calibration and certification

As a general industry standard, both stationery and portable devices need to be checked on a yearly basis. This ensures you are meeting manufacturing demands as well as keeping your device in good health for years to come.

Each Hexagon certification and calibration process includes an OEM preventive maintenance. This process includes advanced diagnostics, identification of wear and tear, and device cleaning. For a full list of checked components and process details, please reach out to the Hexagon Service team.

Based on your current needs and device standards, you can maintain good machine health and keep your device in spec with combinations of certification and calibration routines that meets your ISO standards.

Stationary Devices

For stationary devices, given the negligible mechanical stress that coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) are subject to during their operational life, most CMM owners will perform the certification process as their major year-over-year service. This service verifies the CMM performance along with minor adjustments such as squareness in XY, YZ and ZX axes.

If a device does not meet OEM specifications, and a calibration process is needed, Hexagon will then restore the device to factory specification. This process includes adjustment to Pitch, Yaw, Roll Points, Vertical and Horizontal Straightness points, and linear corrections.

Portable Devices

Portable devices, by their nature, move around the manufacturing environment and are subject to changing environmental conditions. Portable devices are calibrated at our ISO 17025 certified lab, using state of the art tools and calibration routines based on factory specifications.

For some portable devices, Hexagon offers a certification service, which validates the as-found conditions of your device. Understanding your portable device performance will ensure that the job gets done right and within specification.

If your portable device exceeds OEM tolerances, then a recalibration process can be done to bring the device back within specification.

Any Hexagon portable device can only be calibrated at a Hexagon certified center.
